Ontario’s government is moving forward with the Working for Workers Seven Act, 2025, building on previous worker-focused legislation. The proposed bill aims to enhance workplace safety, provide support for displaced workers, and reform the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). These reforms focus on ensuring the program’s integrity and its alignment with Ontario’s economic needs.
Proposed changes include empowering inspectors to conduct in-person interviews to combat fraud, enabling officials to reject applications that no longer meet labor market demands or raise concerns, and granting the Minister the authority to modify nomination streams. Additionally, a new employer portal is slated for launch between June and August, streamlining the electronic submission of sponsorship applications. We will continue to monitor these legislative developments and provide updates as they unfold.
